I love this museum! You get a great look into the Viking era of Dublin through numerous artifacts that have been uncovered over the years, which I enjoy learning about. But the stars of the museum, in my opinion, are the bodies that were preserved in bogs throughout the country! It's a surreal experience, and truly the closest I've felt to those who lived long before us. Highly recommend a visit! The admission is free, but I suggest leaving a donation that reflects your experience.

After hearing about the artifacts that were unearthed all over Ireland that are on display at the National Museum, we had to go. We spent more than two hours enjoying the exhibits. The ancient boat made out of a tree trunk is awe inspiring. The amount and quality of the gold jewelry is astonishing. I liked the historical exhibits about the Greek influences and, of course, the Viking presence in the country. The clothing that was unearthed from the bogs is so well preserved and so interesting to look at. Finally, the exhibit on the Psalter that was found in the bog was mind boggling!

Don't miss out on this wonderful opportunity. So well done, informative, a treat to the eyes delight. Every animal is uniquely presented and perfectly restored by expert taxidermist. Children and adults we're all fascinated. Collections of some species are outstanding.

Amazing! One of the most memorable things I did in Ireland, definitely my favorite thing in Dublin. First of all it's completely free and located in the heart of Dublin. It's relatively small for a museum but you go inside and it's jam packed! You can spend as little as 15 minutes for a quick walk-through or hours taking your time. Did I mention it's free!?

Staff was really nice and answered all of our questions, but there weren't as many wax figures as I had wished and the wax hands we made aren't too well made (some drips, staff finger prints, too thin). The extra charge for a simple bag or package for the wax hands is kinda mean after I had already paid about 50€ for 2 people. But after all it was still a nice event and I'd still tell people to go there, take pictures and just enjoy the time in there. Was a nice touch of our Dublin trip.
